We’re searching for the next generation of leaders and data & analytics experts excited to be part of the change in a traditional industry that is undergoing a huge digital and innovation transformation.  

The Opportunity we are offering & Who we are looking for: 

Aon’s Centers for Innovation and Analytics in Singapore, Dublin and Krakow are at the heart of delivering Aon’s Data & Analytic Services team’s mission to:  

  • Accelerate the rate of innovation through digital solutions to help better respond to clients’ evolving needs.
  • Provide foundational data and analytics capabilities in one place for 50,000 Aon colleagues and our global clients who use our risk and people solutions.  
  • Established in 2012, there are over 100 colleagues in Singapore’s Centre today including actuaries, software developers, data scientists, financial analysts and accountants. 

We are expanding rapidly and looking for dedicated individuals who can leverage emerging technologies and collaborate across Aon’s solution lines to help clients and colleagues make better, data-driven decisions today and tomorrow.  

What You Will Do

We offer a variety of internship positions within Aon:

As an Affinity Analytics Intern, you will work on data analytics projects aimed at marketing analytics for the consumer-focused part of Aon's business and extract value from data that we currently have across the US markets.  

Other responsibilities include:  

  • Assist in data management, visualization and business analytic research to identify statistical relationships present in large and complex sets of data.
  • Aggregate, combine, normalize and cleanse data from a variety of public and proprietary data sources.
  • Perform data exploration and analysis on data sets to develop and test working hypotheses and generate commercial insight.
  • Go beyond current tools to deliver the best solution to the problem and assist/advise management on the most appropriate solutions which apply to a given problem. 

As an Investment Consulting Intern, you will assist in serving the needs of the investment practice, in every area of interest to institutional investors by partnering with our investment consulting colleagues and seek to enhance investment solutions for clients globally through portfolio strategy and implementation advice.

Other responsibilities include:  

  • Work with investment analysts and product owner(s) on generating insights from both qualitative and quantitative data to facilitate better decision making.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of existing processes underlying the firm's global asset engine, including asset allocation and investment strategy, quantitative investment manager screens and proprietary operational due diligence model.
  • Conducting quantitative analysis using both internal and external databases.
  • Source and visualize data across multiple sources using business intelligence tools. 

As a Client Solutions Intern, you will be part of the Client Solutions team based in Singapore, a dynamic and high-energy team, delivering data-driven insights to our leaders to drive performance and support strategic decision making. The team comprises of experienced team members from business analytics partnering, data scientists, web-app developers and data engineers, offering opportunities to exposure in these fields.  

Other responsibilities include:  

  • Perform data exploration and analysis on unstructured data sets to problem solve for data issues or gaps.
  • Assist in data cleaning, collation, preprocessing and evaluation of information gathered from multiple sources.
  • Assist in delivery of analytical models, including data normalization, aggregation, analysis and validation of model assumptions and results. 

As an App Developer Intern, you will work with a team of highly experienced actuarial analysts, developers and business resources to build modern web applications that deliver insightful analytics to the users.  

Other responsibilities include: 

  • Full stack web application development across the technology stack (e.g., Front end, web APIs and database).
  • Design, mock-up and implement web application prototypes before actual implementation.
  • Collaborate with teams of experienced data scientists, analysts, developers and business experts to build high-performing web applications.
  • Assist in support and enhancements of existing applications if required. 

As a Health Solutions Actuarial Intern, you will assist to provide our consultants with analytical tools that support the consulting process around offering health and benefits (e.g. supporting life insurance, wellbeing programmes, actuarial pricing, insurance plan selection advice).

Other responsibilities include: 

  • Gain a basic understanding of the health insurance (and other benefits) landscape both globally and in any of our large regions of focus.
  • Understand how Aon’s role in the H&B space and specifically how the work at the ACIA supports the various business units at Aon.
  • Learn about the various actuarial techniques used in the H&B space and help construct new features or maintain actuarial models or analytical tools.
  • Gain a basic knowledge of data transformation and data visualization techniques used by ACIA H&B and by the insurance industry in general.
  • Present on the knowledge gained, specific work items completed, and general work environment experienced to the business unit at the end of the internship. 

As a Health Solutions Data Analytics Intern, you will assist to provide our consultants with analytical tools that support the consulting process around offering health and benefits (e.g. supporting life insurance, wellbeing programmes, actuarial pricing, insurance plan selection advice).  

Other responsibilities include: 

  • Interacting with internal stakeholders to develop solutions based on analytical requirements.
  • Building knowledge of regional insurance landscape, health and wellness.
  • Providing support for internal stakeholders for external clients as well as for the development of internal tools and intellectual capital.
  • Attaining functional knowledge on the use of ETL tools and Visualization tools.
  • Developing analytical models and insights and presentation to internal (team) and business stakeholders. 

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Undergraduate with an expected graduation of the following calendar year.
  • Degree in Quantitative Finance / Statistics / Analytics / Mathematics / Computer Science preferred.
  • Proficient in SQL and experience with R or Python to perform data querying, running data models and conducting data analysis.
  • Experience with visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI /Tableau) is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good academic track record.
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities.
