About Deutsche Bank:
Deutsche Bank is the leading German bank with strong European roots and a global network. We’re driving growth through our strong client franchise. Against a backdrop of increasing globalization in the world economy, Deutsche Bank is very well-positioned, with significant regional diversification and substantial revenue streams from all the major regions of the world. We serve our clients’ real economic needs in commercial banking, investment banking, private banking and asset management. We are investing heavily in digital technologies, prioritizing long term success over short-term gains, and serving society with ambition and integrity. All this means a career packed with opportunities to grow and the chance to shape the future of our clients.
About the business division:
In 2017, Deutsche Bank announced its decision to undertake a partial initial public offering of Deutsche Asset Management, to unlock the full potential of the organisation for its clients and employees, while producing considerable returns for shareholders. On March 23, 2018, DWS was officially listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
As a fully integrated Asset Management business with strong client offerings across Alternatives, Active and Passive platforms, we can deliver the full breadth of these capabilities under a single global identity.
DWS has over 60 years of investment experience, offering retail, corporate and institutional clients a comprehensive set of strengths and capabilities that few competitors in the world can match.
Our internship programme
Our interns are given the opportunity to learn about our business from different viewpoints, giving you a career advantage. Starting with up to a week of training, you’ll then complete some rotations. Throughout the internship you will gain broad exposure at the heart of a progressive business and a thorough understanding of a range of areas including fixed income, equity and foreign exchange, emerging markets, exchange traded funds, and alternative investments. The internship is an ideal way of finding out whether a career in DWS meets your needs and aspirations.
Further details about the Product Division:
The Product Division is responsible for the whole lifecycle of products and solutions that DWS offers, from the inception of product strategy through implementation and ongoing management. Key pillars within the Product Division includes Product Strategy, Lifecycle & Analytics, Product Specialists & Development (Liquid and Illiquid), and Product Management (Liquid and Illiquid).
What we look for:
We recruit highly intelligent interns who are ambitious and adaptable. They have degrees in many different disciplines. Even though good levels of numeracy are important for some roles, you won’t necessarily need a formal mathematical or financial background. We have very comprehensive training programmes that will give you all the technical knowledge you’ll need to build a career with us. Above all, we’re looking for entrepreneurial people who thrive best in a diverse culture where innovation and agile thinking abound.
You should not only be passionate about the world of finance, but also show a keen interest in Asset Management. You will need to have a record of outstanding academic achievement and a desire to continue learning at the same intensive rate. In return, you will thrive on working in a highly collaborative environment with some of the best minds in Asset Management.
The Product Division is looking for candidates who are interested in helping define DWS’ commercial success through identifying product strategies, building client-centric solutions, developing products, defining and driving marketing strategies of products, and managing product platforms. While the Product Division works closely with the investment division and client coverage division to drive firm wide strategic agendas, product responsibilities do not include portfolio management, trading, or direct client relationship management.
In addition to the broad attributes mentioned above, the ideal candidate for the Product Division should:
- know how to conduct research and provide data-driven insights
- have good organization and project management skills
- be proactive and have a “can-do” attitude
- have excellent communication skills (fluency in English is a must and one additional Asian language is preferred)
- know the basics of MS Office programs
- have knowledge on key product structures used in the Asset Management industry (preferred, not a must)
- know how to use financial analytic modules like Morningstar Direct and Bloomberg (preferred, not a must)
