The Programme

HSBC is excited to be partnering with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) to participate in the Banking Talent Programme in Hong Kong in 2020. The six-month programme will provide recent Hong Kong university graduates, from all study disciplines, with a work placement at HSBC. This includes practical on-the-job work experience, industry-related training, and the opportunity to develop and grow a professional network for graduates who are keen to start their career in the banking sector.

Placement Details:

Placements will start at HSBC from early September 2020.

We have multiple placements available in the following key areas of the bank. Wealth and Personal Banking helps customers to take care of their day-to-day finances and to manage, protect and grow their wealth. Hiring areas include:

  • Chief Operating Officer Office.
  • Contact Centre.
  • Wealth Development.

HSBC Operations, Services and Technology is the engine that drives HSBC, making the bank simpler, better and faster for our customers and colleagues. Hiring areas include:

  • Chief Operating Officer Office.
  • Operations.
  • Procurement.

What You Will Do

  • Over the course of the six-month programme, you will gain experience and insight in the business area for which you are recruited, and you can expect a combination of varied on-the-job practical experience, project-based work and functional exposure. You will be encouraged to learn, ask questions, take on some responsibilities and develop your professional network. Throughout your time at HSBC, you will be supported by experienced managers, colleagues and a wide network of diverse peers.
  • In addition to the training and development activities that HSBC will provide, you will also participate in a range of training activities centrally organised by the HKMA, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Academy of Finance, the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers, Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute or Treasury Markets Association alongside other relevant bodies and reputable market practitioners.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • University students who graduate with a bachelor’s degree in 2020, in any discipline, at a recognized university in Hong Kong.
  • Have relevant rights to work in Hong Kong.
  • Be fluent in both written and spoken English and Cantonese.
  • Possess strong communication skills and are able to collaborate with others effectively.
  • Have solid PC skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Additional PC skills in Excel (Macro), Access and Project would be advantageous.
